A beginner’s guide to Slingo – the brother of Bingo

Some things in life have entered our common psyche. Wherever you’re born and whatever you do, as a member of the human race, you’ll know how to play bingo paypal. Its simplicity means that it’s known the world over, teaching children their numbers from Belgium to Belize.

However, fewer people may be familiar with Bingo’s lesser-known brother, Slingo. Named as a portmanteau of “slots” and “bingo”, Slingo was created back in 1994 by two American property developers, Dave Lyons and Sal Falciglia.

In July 2013, RealNetworks acquired Slingo for $15.6 million, and in July 2015 RealNetworks announced that it would sell Slingo to London-based gaming company Gaming Realms. Slingo has since become popular in the UK online gambling industry, combining the two much loved games of slots and bingo.

How do you play Slingo?

Slingo marries together online slots and traditional bingo in a match made in heaven. It’s available at most online casinos and is very easy to pick up. You use a 5×5 grid and a reel that you’d see in regular slots.

Play starts when you spin the slot associated reel found at the bottom of the screen. Normally, there are 20 spins per game, but the number of spins may vary depending on the game designer.

It doesn’t take long to grasp. Every time you spin the reel, the numbers that appear on the reel are the numbers you can tick off your Slingo card. Like bingo, the goal in Slingo is to match five in a row, as many times as you can. This includes horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines. On the bottom row, you’ll see a number grid that will spin random numbers. On this grid you can also receive jokers, free spins, and various instant prizes.

As there are 20 numbers on your Slingo card, you must try and mark off as many as possible within your number of allocated spins. Should you run out of spins without having achieved this, there’s always the opportunity to buy extra spins.

However, this will cost you extra money and can become quite costly. A piece of advice would be to only consider extra spins if you’re one or two numbers away from winning the prize. There is obviously no guarantee you’ll win just by purchasing extra spins, but it may just increase your chances.

The good news is that if you’d rather not buy extra spins, you can also get freebies by playing with multipliers. You can use these to get more points, increasing your overall score and bettering your chance of cashing in a larger prize.

Slingo – the best of both worlds

Bingo slot machines are very common and offer an experience close to regular in-house bingo. However, Slingo qualifies as a slot game, meaning it contains the slot game features such as extra symbols and free spins.

With Slingo, you get the best of bingo and slots. The gameplay is highly addictive and with its increasingly popularity, more and more versions are being released.
